The great kindness challenge was a school wide initiate that fit well into our unit. Students designed a door decoration, which was one of the challenges, that focuses on the power that someone can have when choosing kindness and rejecting stereotypes. They designed a kindness monster who is giving gifts and a kind child who chooses to befriend the monster and join in spreading cheer. From the entire school, our class won the door decoration contest. This was completely student led and went hand in hand with our unit, which focuses on who we are and who we aspire to be as individuals. See pictures of students working, the final product, and Chloe's description of the door's significance below.
